Everyone of us know about zebra crossing.These crossings are made to cross the roads. The crossings are coloured to warn the driver of a veh, that someone can cross the road from there and speed to be minimised.

But one question always came in mind that why are these crossings called Zebra crossings and why are they black and white.

History of Zebra Crossings

It is said that road crossings were invented by a British MP named Jim Callaghan in 1948.

First 1000 road crossings were coloured as blue and yellow on black roads.

Reason Behind Black and White Colour of road crossing

Many colours were experimented for road crossings but were unsuccessful,so at last the crossings were coloured as black and white because roads are black in colour and white colour make a right contrast of colours to make it visible from a distance

Reason behind crossings named as Zebra Crossing

The Zebras have black and white stripes on there bodies which resembles with the colour of road crossing ,that is why road crossings named as Zebra Crossings.

ज़ेबरा क्रॉसिंग के बारे में हम सभी जानते हैं। ये क्रॉसिंग सड़कों को पार करने के लिए बनाए जाते हैं। किसी वाहन के चालक को चेतावनी देने के लिए क्रॉसिंग रंगीन होते हैं, कि कोई वहां से सड़क पार कर सकता है और गति कम से कम करनी है। लेकिन एक सवाल हमेशा दिमाग में आता था कि इन क्रॉसिंग को ज़ेबरा क्रॉसिंग क्यों कहा जाता है और ये ब्लैक एंड व्हाइट क्यों होती हैं। 

ज़ेबरा क्रॉसिंग का इतिहास 

ऐसा कहा जाता है कि रोड क्रॉसिंग का आविष्कार 1948 में जिम कैलाघन नाम के एक ब्रिटिश सांसद ने किया था। पहले 1000 रोड क्रॉसिंग को काली सड़कों पर नीले और पीले रंग से रंगा गया था। 

रोड क्रॉसिंग के काले और सफेद रंग के पीछे का कारण 

रोड क्रॉसिंग के लिए कई रंगों का प्रयोग किया गया था, लेकिन असफल रहे, इसलिए अंत में क्रॉसिंग को काले और सफेद रंग में रंगा गया, क्योंकि सड़कें काले रंग की होती हैं और सफेद रंग, रंगों का एक सही तालमेल बनाता है ताकि यह दूर से दिखाई दे 

रोड़ क्रोसिंग को जेबरा क्रोसिंग क्यों कहा गया ?

ज़ेबरा के शरीर पर काली और सफेद धारियाँ होती हैं जो रोड क्रॉसिंग के रंग से मेल खातीं हैं, इसीलिए रोड क्रॉसिंग को ज़ेबरा क्रॉसिंग नाम दिया गया है।
