दोस्तों आप सभी को मालूम है की उष्णकटिबंधीय क्षेत्र कर्क और मकर रेखा के बीच  पृथ्वी का क्षेत्र है तथा यह पृथ्वी के अन्य स्थानों से गर्म होते हैं ! ये प्रदेश दिन के तापमान में केवल थोड़ा सा परिवर्तन महसूस करते हैं !उष्णकटिबंधीय क्षेत्र पृथ्वी की कुल स्तह का 40% तथा जैव विवधता में 80% हिस्सा है , यह क्षेत्र जलवायु परिवर्तन , वनों  की कटाई , शहरीकरण और जनसँख्या परिवर्तन जैसी कई चुनौतियों का सामना कर रहा है ! उष्णकटिबंधीय स्थानों में सबसे ज्यादा भुखमरी है ! इन क्षेत्रों  में झोंपड़पट्टी  में रहने वाली शहरी आबादी का अनुपात दुनिया के अन्य हिस्सों की तुलना में ज्यादा है !

International Day of the Tropics, इस दिन की शुरूआत संयुक्त राष्ट्र महासभा द्वारा संकल्प संख्या A/RES/701267 दिनाँक 14 जून 2016 के अंतर्गत की गई ! 29 जून 2014 को आई "स्टेट ऑफ द ट्रॉपिक्स " रिपोर्ट की बर्षगांठ का दिन इसे मानाने के लिए चुना गया !"स्टेट ऑफ द ट्रॉपिक्स " रिपोर्ट नोबल पुरस्कार विजेता Aung Can Suu Kyi ने दी थी !यह रिपोर्ट उष्णकटिबंधीय अनुसंधान संस्थान के बीच सहयोग का परिणाम है !

International Day of the Tropics उष्णकटिबंधीय क्षेत्रों  द्वारा सामना की जाने वाली विशिष्ट चुनौतियों के बारे में विश्व को जागरूक करने और दुनिया के उष्णकटिबंधीय क्षेत्र को प्रभावित करने वाले मुद्दों के दूरगामी प्रभावों के प्रति जागरूक करने के उद्देश्य से दुनिया भर में 29 जून को हर साल मनाया जाता है !

   INTERNATIONAL DAY  OF THE TROPICS
